A Polish man who was multi-tasking and mistakenly pulled a hot iron rather than the telephone up to his face says he simply wasn’t paying attention.
Now Tomasz Paczkowski has bandages over the entire left side of his face while his severely burned skin begins the healing process, according to Polish newspaper Fakt.
“My wife had gone to work,” the 32-year old told the paper.
“After breakfast I started to work. I turned on the boxing channel on the TV, opened a beer and started ironing.
“I was really getting involved in the boxing and was not really thinking about what I was doing.
“Suddenly the phone rang and I mucked things up.
“Instead of grabbing the receiver I picked up the iron and put it to my ear.”
The 32-year old man was alone in his home after his wife had left for work and he began watching a sports program on television, drinking a beer and ironing some shirts.
According to Stuff, When he heard the phone ring, he instinctively drew up the hand holding the hot iron to his face rather than picking up the ringing telephone to listen to the receiver.
Now Paczkowski is being kidded by just about everybody that he burned his face on purpose just to get out of helping his wife with chores around the house, including the ironing, but he contends the accident won’t deter him from doing the ironing again.
