Ooops: Porn movie broadcast on Swedish news

Pornographic Images shown on Swedish News

Viewers of Sweden’s TV4 News were shocked to see an erotic film playing on a screen behind the presenter of the Monday morning news program; for around ten minutes a pornographic movie was visible on a small screen visible behind the news anchor.

According to reports, the images began to be displayed as a segment on the problems in Syria were discussed by the anchor and a foreign correspondent; the images remained out of focus throughout and remained unnoticed by those in front of the camera.

After around ten minutes it is thought an employee noticed the pornographic film playing in the background and changed the channel being shown.

Viewers of the show were of course shocked.

Danyal Ek, a 23-year-old student, told Swedish paper The Local: “At first I realised I was looking at a naked woman and it quickly became clear she was having sex. The image wasn’t exactly in focus, but it wasn’t hard to figure out what was going on.”

TV4 News Editor Anders Haglind confirmed the movie had appeared on the background screens and claimed it was probably shown accidentally; Haglind did not rule out the showing of the movie may have been the work of a digruntled employee.

TV4 does own a number of channels commonly shown on screens behind news anchor’s some of which do show pornographic movies.

Haglind told The Expressen newspaper: “It’s not like we were directly broadcasting porn. Put simply, it’s **** that it happened. We’re going to do everything we can so that it doesn’t happen again.”
