FBI Arrests California Man in Sextorition Case

A Southern California man who was able to hack into the e-mail and social media accounts of numerous women whom he then extorted to show naked pictures of themselves has been arrrested by FBI agents.

Karen “Gary” Kazaryan, a 27-year old resident of the Los Angeles suburb of Glendale, was charged with 30 different counts of federal computer hacking in his sextortion efforts.

Once Kazaryan gained control of various women’s online accounts, he then posed as a woman friend, sending instant messages that used compromising photos of his victims that he had found to extort them into becoming naked on camera for his entertainment. Officials charge that Kazaryan often made numerous sextortion demands on his female victims, forcing them to show him their naked breasts using Skype.

FBI agents believe that more than 300 women fell victim to Kazaryan’s sextortion demands and is asking anyone else who believes they were conned by this hacker to contact their local FBI office.
