The driver of a speeding car who crashed into the outdoor patio of a Las Vegas Restaurant at the height of the luncheon rush hour has been arrested after trying to flee the scene and eliminate drug evidence at the crash scene. The Egg & I Restaurant had almost 150 people dining inside and on the patio area when customers noticed a fast moving vehicle on the street heading directly for the restaurant’s front plate glass windows. Ten people suffered injuries serious enough for them to be transported by emergency rescue crews to two local hospitals. Four of the injured restaurant patrons had to be extricated after being trapped underneath the vehicle.

Police officials credit quick acting customers with helping them to apprehend the suspect after he attempted to flee the scene of the disaster. Officials did not say how fast the car was speeding when it crashed directly into the restaurant’s patio dining room and front windows, but it arrived with such force that it threw one of the restaurant’s employees standing near the front door all the way into the back of the restaurant’s kitchen. The driver of the speeding vehicle, whose identity remains unknown, also managed to hit two other vehicles on the street.
