Burglar Phones Police About Noises and Gets Arrested
Benesti, Romania – police have arrested 31-year-old Marius Ionescu for burglary after he phoned local police after hearing noises.
According to the Daily Mail, the burglar had entered the bedroom of the house he planned to rob when he heard noises he believed were from another burglar. Ionescu decided to report the incident to the police who arrived at the home and arrested him. A search of the home did not indicate the presence of another burglar. The police believe that Ionescu probably got spooked by the family cat.
The police say that Ionescu has a long history of burglary but also suffers from anxiety or what they termed is a “nervous disposition”. That would certainly have to be the case as Ionescu’s call to the police was a distress call asking them to rescue him from danger. Ionescu even took to hiding under a bed not to avoid police but to avoid being harmed by the other home invader.
Perhaps his call for help was a Freudian-slip of sorts and that this line of work no longer suits him. The relatively young man will have considerable time to reflect on a change of employment as he sits in his jail cell.
Police spokesman Mihaela Straub said: ‘The noise he heard was probably just the family cat.
‘He already has a criminal record for similar break-ins and given his nervous disposition he probably should look for another job.
‘He’s likely to have a lot of time inside jail to consider things.’
