A 90-year old grandfather in Newport Richey, Florida managed to survive a harrowing four days stuck in his garaged vehicle when he realized that a hip injury sustained earlier in the day wouldn’t allow him to exit the car once he returned home and parked.
Justyn “Jay” Ambrozia had fallen during a trip to the grocery store to pick up a few items but didn’t realize that his hip had broken in the process. Store employees helped the elderly gentleman to his feet, he paid his bill, put his groceries in his car and headed home.
Upon entering his garage to park the automobile, Ambrozia soon discovered that his hip injury was more serious than he originally realized and that he didn’t have the strength to get out of the vehicle and into the house to call for help.
He managed to sustain himself over the next four days by consuming the ice cream, cookies and cakes he had made during his store purchase. It was sheer luck that a neighbor passing by Ambrozia’s garage noticed that the elderly man was seated in his garaged vehicle, with his body slumped over the steering wheel. He is currently recovering at a local hospital.
