Twelve year old boy to be charged in stabbing death of sister.
The incident terrified residents of the area and sent state and local authorities on a massive search for the alleged intruder.
The boy’s arrest took place Saturday in Valley Springs, California and was made by the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department. He will be charged with murder.
Calaveras County Sheriff Gary ***** said state and local law enforcement agencies had put in more than2,000 hours of investigative work before making the arrest. ***** did not reveal the exact evidence that led them to the boy, but he did confirm that authorities seized several knives from the Fowler home, and that there had been no sign of forced entry or robbery.
***** declined to comment further on the status of the investigation accept to say it is ongoing.
California law states that a person must be at least 14 years old to be tried as an adult for murder.
It is not common for a child to be convicted of murder, but it is not unprecedented either.
