A Tennessee couple, Greg and Stacye Terry, were served a bag of cash instead of their breakfast order at a McDonald’s drive-thru. Upon inspection, instead of food, Greg and Stacye found three clear bags that contained an unspecified amount of money.
The money ended up being the restaurant’s bank deposit. The Terrys’ had drove away without knowing what was inside their bag, and it was not until they arrived home that they realized the bad did not contain their breakfast order.
Almost immediately after the incident, the restaurant worker realized the mistake that had been made and chased after the couple in attempt to rectify the situation and get the money back. The couple returned the McDonald’s deposit money without any hesitation.
“We are grateful for this customer, and the action they took upon realizing our error. We are looking into why this mistake happened, but what is most important to us is knowing that we are part of a community with the values that were evidenced by the person’s actions.”
Came in a statement by the McDonald’s owner, Phil Gray, who was extremely grateful for the Terrys’ actions. “There is no other way to have it; I couldn’t live with myself,” Stacye remarked on handing over the money.
