Cate Blanchett Has Her Elf Ears on Display for Good Luck
Actress Cate Blanchett, Australian beauty and picture of grace, kept a memento from her epic role as the Elven leader Galadriel during the Lord of the Rings trilogy. She says the ears bring her good luck and she has even cast them in bronze to preserve them on display in her home. She has been nominated six times for an Academy Award thrice in the category of “Best Supporting Actress” and thrice in the category of “Best Actress”. She has one once in each category. Her first Oscar was for supporting role in the 2004 film “The Aviator” about Howard Hughes. Her second Oscar was for the film “Blue Jasmine”.
Over her film career, she has appeared in 33 films which have collectively grossed over $2.1 billion in box office receipts with an average gross of $65 million per film. Without question, it has been the Lord of the Rings & Hobbit films which have been her biggest grossing films. While they haven’t accounted for any of the myriad of awards she’s received, they have been the films that pay the bills. Either way, the 44-year-old has good reason to consider the Elven ears good luck as they’ve led her to a pot of gold more than once.
