Tina Fey Reveals Cause of Facial Scar
Comedian Tiny Fey has finally revealed the cause of the scar that appears on her face, something she has strictly avoided in the past because she felt that any emphasis about it would have been exploitive.
She appears on the cover of the January issue of Vanity Fair and an inside interview of Fey and husband Jeff Richmond reveals that the scar was the result of a random slashing incident that occurred when she was a child.
Her spouse explains that an unknown individual approached Fey when she was standing in front of her house. At first, she thought that the person had marked her face with a pen until she discovered that the injury inflicted was much worse.
Fey admits that she usually is able to forget about it and not be self conscious about the scar that appears near her mouth on her left cheek.
“It’s impossible to talk about it without somehow seemingly exploiting it and glorifying it,” Fey, 38, tells Vanity Fair in its January issue.
When she is facing a camera, she usually asks people to photograph her right side because she considers it a better side. Her husband admits he found her facial scar “fascinating” and thought it said a lot about her character as someone who has been through a challenging situation and managed to survive it.
