Utah Man Busted for “Black Snake Moan” Treatment of a 6-year-old Child
Logan, Utah – Police this heavily White Mormon city of 125,000 people have arrested a 28-year-old African-American man on multiple counts of child abuse after someone must have learned that he chained a 6-year-old child to a bed in a manner reminiscent of the Indie classic “Black Snake Moan”.
In the film, Samuel Jackson chains a young White girl to a radiator heater after he finds her beaten and abandoned by the side of the road. He initially chained the woman, played by Christina Ricci, to prevent her from running off into the woods at a time when she wasn’t right in her head following drug use and multiple injuries. The chain essentially kept her from getting hurt and was long enough to reach the bathroom.
In a similar spirit, Samuel Lee Hodges had chained a six-year-old to a bed so that he could go to work and rest assured that the child wouldn’t get into any trouble, reports UPI.
The child was chained with a heavy towing style chain, which is incidentally similar to the type used in the film. Like the film, the chain was padlocked at each end. The young lad had provisions of water, snacks, and a sandwich. He was also able to reach the toilet. Police admit that there were no signs that the child had been physically abused. Perhaps Hodges couldn’t afford paying someone to tend the boy or maybe he didn’t know anyone in the community of Latter-Day Saints which can be a very close knit society. Either way, it appears that a neighbor caught wind of what was going on and called police. Hodges now faces a legal morass as he will need to post bail, get a lawyer and deal with the Department of Child and Family Services which has taken the boy into custody.
