Man with Gun Tat Arrested for Actual Gun Possession While Crying
Madison, Maine – If you have stolen goods in your possession along with an illegal firearm, it probably isn’t advisable to arrive at the home of a sheriff’s deputy crying like a baby in a drunken stupor. In the case of wanna-be tough guy Michael Smith, age 41, it landed him in jail. Smith had recently gained his 15 minutes of fame for an incident where he was mistaken by police for possession of a concealed weapon which turned out to be pistol tattoo on his belt line. This time around, Smith actually did have a gun and was in need of a handkerchief.
He had stolen a box of Suboxone strips belonging to the woman he is dating. Suboxone is a partial opioid which is used to ease patients off of opiate addictions. At the time of his arrest, he was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, theft of drugs, and unmanly conduct in front of an officer. Actually, the last charge was a joke. His bail was set at $1,000 which he was able to post and gain his release from Somerset County Jail.
The incident took place this past Thursday at 8:07PM when officers were called to the home of Deputy Don Avery. The official report is that Smith showed up at the deputy’s residence looking for help. He claimed he was not in a good place and was contemplating hurting himself and admitted to stealing the drugs from her. Smith was shaken up after having gotten into an argument with his girlfriend. Accordingly, he was taken to nearby Skowhegan to receive medical attention at Redington-Fairview General Hospital. Local police were able to reach his girlfriend who confirmed that her prescription for Suboxone had in fact gone missing. Police are keeping her name private at this time.
