Deadly Tot with a Gun

In an Albuquerque, New Mexico hotel two parents were injured by one single shotgun. A 3- year- old toddler found a handgun inside his mother’s. Following a thorough investigation, authorities concluded that the 3- year- old boy was reaching for an iPod, when the handgun apparently caught his attention.

The bullet hit the father in the buttock, and somehow hit the mother in the right shoulder. The mother is eight month pregnant, and apparently is unharmed by the incident. Their 2- year- old daughter is unharmed as well. Both injuries the parents sustained are not life-threatening.

The couple stated they were about to order pizza when the toddler fired the weapon. Reynold’s, the boy’s father stated, “It was like if I was to get up shake your hand and sat back down. That’s how fast it happened.”

Reynold’s stated that the ordeal was traumatizing. He did not know if the toddler had injured himself or not, or what kind of condition his girlfriend was in. The father grabbed a towel to stop the bleeding, and proceeded to call 9-1-1.

The father was treated and released, but the pregnant mom is hospitals, and is in stable condition. Charges are under review at the District Attorney’s office, following charges of criminal negligence, which both parents may be charged.

News Journal reports reveal that the family was residing at one of America’s Best Value Inn, when the shooting took place. Authorities say that the children are in the care of Child Care officials. A spokesman for the Washington- based Brady Campaign and Center to Prevent Gun Violence, shared a brief and profound statement with the media.

He stated that this shooting should serve as a reminder to parents to keep their weapons locked away safely in a secure place, and away for children.
