Police found a family, including three children, dead in a home in an upscale Minneapolis suburb.
Police say it appeared to be a murder-suicide. The family hasn’t been officially identified, but the house is registered to Karen and Brian Short, the Associated Press reports.
When the family’s father didn’t show up for work, a coworker asked police to check on them. A neighbor, Doug Plocek, was stunned by the news. “They were good neighbors,” Plocek said.
Neighbour Doug Plocek found police cars were blocking his street when he came home Thursday and heard that there was one death in the Shorts’ house, then an update that it was the whole family.
“The neighbours went into shock,” he said. “To me, there was no indication whatsoever how that could have happened.”
“They were good neighbours,” he said. “This whole thing, we’re trying to wrap our heads around it.”
Of the neighbourhood, Plocek said, “We’ve never even had a break-in. To have something of this magnitude and it involves children — it just tears me apart.”
