Baltimore woman sues mayor
According to media reports Thursday, a Baltimore woman has filed a lawsuit against the Baltimore mayor, city council and two city contractors after she said she was hurt when her toilet exploded in 2014.
As reported by CNN, Angela Wright filed the lawsuit in Baltimore City Circuit Court in February.
The Baltimore woman she she was using her bathroom toilet when it backed up and blew her off the seat “with great force and violence,” according to the suit. The lawsuit states she was covered in feces and suffered physical injuries.
Wright also claims she suffered “mental anguish” and “loss of enjoyment of her usual pursuits and pastimes,” while her bathroom and home sustained approximately $14,000 in damages, according to WJZ media partner The Baltimore Sun.
The experience has impacted Wright’s mental and emotional health, according to the lawsuit, leading to “mental anguish” and Her bathroom was also severely damaged and in need of repair, the lawsuit said.
The lawsuit names the city council, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and contractors Spiniello Companies Inc. and Heitkamp Inc.
Wright’s attorney Louis Glick says they will seek $225,000.
Representatives from Heitkamp Inc. and Spiniello Companies Inc. did not immediately respond to requests for comment from news agencies. Howard Libit, a spokesman for Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, did not comment citing pending litigation.
The trial has not been scheduled.
