Hospital game: Team Bus Flips, Everyone Sent To Hospital, Game Postponed
According to media reports, a school bus carrying the Griffith High School boys basketball team rolled over on Interstate 65 Saturday afternoon.
As reported by CNN, the bus was carrying 26 members of the Panther boys basketball team along with their coaches when the bus flipped onto the side of the Interstate while traveling southbound near mile marker 230 DeMotte/Roselawn.
Police say at least 14 people are treated for injuries at three local hospitals, including the team’s head coach, David Garrett, who has been airlifted to University of Chicago hospital.
The team was heading to their semi-state game against Marion at Lafayette Jefferson. The game has been postponed, according to the Indiana High School Athletic Association.
The semi-state game between Warsaw and Lafayette McCutcheon is delayed until 7:30pm Saturday.
The cause of the crash is unknown.
