Kaufman Walmart shooting: Man shoots Employee, Then Himself

According to media reports Tuesday, Kaufman police say a man shot another man inside Wal-Mart and then turned the gun on himself.

As reported by CNN, Kaufman Walmart shooting happened around 10 a.m. Tuesday at the store on Kings Fort Parkway. The suspect walked into the outdoor living department and fatally shot an employee, police said.

initial reports sated that the gunman committed suicide. Police confirmed he shot himself, but clarified that he has not yet been pronounced dead. He was rushed to a local hospital by helicopter.

Police believe the victim and the suspect knew each other and had an ongoing feud. They’re investigating the case as an attempted murder-suicide.

No one else was hurt during the walmart shooting, but the store was shut down for the day.

Kaufman High School and Norman Junior High Schools were briefly locked down. That lockdown has since been lifted.

The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department is helping with the investigation.
