After seven years on the hit sketch comedy show “Saturday Night Live,” cast member Kristen Wiig is leaving it for different career opportunities. Wiig bid farewell to the show at the end of it’s May 19th broadcast, ending a stint that saw her turn from relative unknown to instantly recognizable. Wiig is noted for her dynamic range and large array of characters she can play as well as her recent award-winning forays into feature-length film.
It is that success in Hollywood that led Wiig to leave SNL even after such a meteoric rise on TV. In a tearful final sketch she said goodbye to those who stood beside her for so many years as the cast sang to her before saying their own goodbyes. Fans of Wiig’s will not have to wait long to see her reappear on screen, however. Following on the successful of “Bridesmaids” Wiig already has several more films in development including several feature roles.
