Satirist Stephen Colbert is up to the task of accepting his latest honor, being voted the 69th hottest woman in the Maxim Hot 2012 list.
Colbert won the hottest woman award thanks to a write-in campaign. The award is just another way of helping to tweak yet another American cultural tradition, that of the beauty contest.
The Maxim Magazine’s annual hot list is designed to select the “definitive list of the world’s most beautiful women”. For his Maxim “centerfold”, the comedian was sharply dressed in a pin stripe suit, giving the reader a positive thumbs up sign.
In explaining its decision to award Colbert the number 69 slot, the editors noted that “democracy isn’t always pretty. Sometimes it’s downright handsome.” The award delights Colbert’s many Comedy Central fans, who never miss an episode of The Colbert Report, a satirical news show that pokes fun at political conservatives.
This isn’t his first magazine award, however, having been designated one of the world’s most influential people by Time Magazine in 2006.
