89 year old Grammy Award winning Folk Singer Doc Watson was hospitalized Tuesday after he took a fall on Monday in his Deep Gap home in North Carolina. There were no injuries from the fall, however, it was at the hospital that they discovered that he was seriously ill and had him transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
He was taken into surgery to remove a blockage in his colon on Thursday night. He required a revision surgery on Saturday and took a turn for the worst on Sunday. His family was allowed at his bedside in the Intensive Care Unit. He is doing a bit better according to reports. It is reported that he is now responsive.
“Doc did have a pretty difficult day today. But he pulled through.” said Mitch Greenhill his manager. He reported that he is doing better, but it is still serious. He also added that the family would like privacy at this time.
