Oprah Winfrey’s book club debuted in 1996 and focused on reading a book as a group followed by discussing and reviewing the book in-depth with everyone in the club. Although Oprah’s original book club was a huge success, Oprah feels it is time to upgrade into the digital age and modern world, creating and launching essentially “Oprah’s Book Club 2.0”.

Oprah’s Book Club 2.0 is said to be somewhat of a joint project between Oprah’s O Magazine and OWN television network, and it is also said to cater to those online using Oprah’s website and forum to share and connect, making it easy to share reviews and opinions on the latest books being reviewed.

The first book that is thought to be reviewed by the new and improved Oprah’s Book Club 2.0 is “Wild”, written by Cherry Strayed. The story features an in-depth view of Cheryl’s 1,100 mile hike in California, all along the Pacific Crest Tail and even making her way into Washington.
