The Expensive Purchases of the Rich and Famous
Celebrities are not typically known for their restraint when it comes to purchasing things that they desire; however, some celebrities manage to do it on a much more massive scale than others.
Consider Petra Ecclestone, the daughter of Bernie Ecclestone, the man who runs Formula One racing. Last month, she bought the Spelling Mansion in Los Angeles for the price of $85 million, which she paid with cash. The home features, among other things, a bowling alley, a gift-wrapping room and a barbershop.
JK Rowling, the author of the popular Harry Potter book series, did not buy anything, but she did receive a very expensive gift recently: a bracelet featuring forty diamonds. The bracelet was given to her by Barry Meyer, the CEO of Warner Bros, as an appreciative gift for the success of the Harry Potter movie series.
Not to be outdone herself, Kim Kardashian is hoping to make her upcoming wedding to basketball player Kris Humphries a memorable one by renting a fleet of white Rolls Royces with chauffeurs in order to transport the entire wedding party to the wedding. Although the cost of the rentals was not presently known, it is thought to be a considerable expense.
Of course, sometimes celebs may exaggerate their spending habits.
Just recently rapper Soulja Boy claimed he bought himself a tricked-out Gulfstream G5 jet as a 21st birthday present. Well according to his rep, Soulja did not buy any air craft.
“The elaborate rumors circulating about Soulja Boy purchasing a jet for his 21st birthday are grossly over exaggerated and are not true,” spokesman Greg Miller said in a statement.
One source told Reuters that the rapper recently used someone’s private jet but had no plans to pick up one of his own.
