Father’s Day is just around the corner on June 19, 2011, and AOL Music has just released their list of top ten songs about fathers.
In number one spot is “Bridge over Troubled Water” by Simon and Garfunkel. In this song, Garfunkel promises to always be at his son’s side, even when troubles arise.
In the number two spot is “Father and Son” by Cat Stevens. In this song, with both parts being sung by Stevens, the son is feeling that it is time to start out on his own. Meanwhile, the father is urging the son to stay at home.
In the number three spot is “Dance With My Father” by Luther Vandross. In this song, Vandross wishes for just one more dance with his dead Father, a dance that would never end.
In the number four spot is “Cat’s in the Cradle” by Harry Chapin, which urges fathers and sons to take time out of their hectic lives to spend time with each other.
Rounding out the top five is Keith Urban’s Song for Dad.
