Dylan McDermott Adopted by Playwright Eve Ensler
Dylan McDermott owes a debt of gratitude to his father’s third wife, writer Eve Ensler, author of The ****** Monologues.
Ensler adopted McDermott when he was fifteen years old, a short eight years younger than she at the time and encouraged him to pursue an acting career.
Ensler even helped the fledgling actor by writing roles in her plays for him.
Although McDermott was christened Mark Anthony McDermott, he took the stage name of Dylan after the name Ensler planned to give a child she then miscarried. Step-mother and son remain close today and McDermott has achieved acting success in both TV and film.
