According to reports, Britain’s Duchess of Cambridge has spent a reported £35,000 or $43,676USD on “work-related” clothing since her wedding day last year.

Well – actually Prince Charles has flipped the bill.

Catherine Middleton – who married Britain’s Prince William in April 2011 – is known for her impeccable style and has wowed an intrigued global audience in stunning creations since becoming an official member of the British royal family.

Now, for the first time since their famed wedding, the Prince of Wales is opening his financial accounts.

According to British newspaper The Daily Mail, Prince Charles has agreed to foot the bill for his daughter-in-law’s “work-related” clothing.

insiders say Kate has gone to great lengths to keep her clothing budget down, recycling dresses where she can, and shopping on the high street.

in order to keep costs down, she has refused to hire a stylist and even picks out her own wardrobe.

‘Catherine has an innate sense of style and, almost as importantly, knows what is appropriate for the occasion,’ one insider told the paper.

‘She might not choose the most cutting edge designers, but she know what looks good on her and that’s what counts.

‘Plus she is acutely conscious that she is not yet a full-time working royal and feels it is pretty pointless, as well as extravagant, to have her own dresser.’

styleite.com points out that we should put the cost into prospective:

But before we all start judging the price of Kate’s wardrobe, let’s do some comparing. Last year, Prince Charles’s personal expenditures came out to around $3.8 million, and he earned a whopping $30 million from his Duchy of Cornwall estate. So really, Kate’s wardrobe costs pennies.
