Croatian Citizenship For Blue Ivy?

Blue Ivy Carter, better known as the daughter of pop superstar Beyonce and rap icon Jay-Z, has received her first laurels.

According to Croatian news reports, the small island town of Hvar, in the Adriatic Sea, has granted an honorary Croatian citizenship to the infant.

The couple posted a video of Beyonce walking past a tree wrapped by blue ivy. Mayor Pjerino Bebic granted the citizenship to Blue Ivy as a token of appreciation and invited the family to return.

“We woke up this morning, took a nice little walk, passed by this beautiful blue tree,” a pregnant Beyonce shared while pointing out the unusual-hued plant covering the tree’s bark in a personal video clip released on her blog this spring. “I think it’s Blue Ivy, which would be quite appropriate!”

Hvar received a large bump in tourism and attention after the musical power couple visited on vacation in September 2011.

“The story of the origin of your girl’s name, Blue Ivy, has brought huge media attention and great tourism promotion to the town of Hvar,” Mayor Pjerino Bebic said in a letter sent to the couple, according to the Dalmacija News (via AFP/Yahoo). “I have decided to grant your daughter the status of honorary citizen of the town.”
