Following her recent revelation that she was diabetic, celebrity chef Paula Deen has revealed to People Magazine that she has lost 30 pounds in five months in an effort to combat the disease.
“It took me a couple of years to get to this point,” she says. “If you make a few small changes, they can add up to big results.”
Deen has made millions of dollars through her cookbooks and her appearances on Food Network and shopping channels, offering dishes that were delicious, but high in calories and fat. Her heavy Southern drawl and sparkling personality have made her a great success, but she came under heavy scrutiny when she revealed her medical condition in early 2012. Now, she says she had learned to cook smarter, replacing some of her favorite high-calorie foods with salads and baked fish.
