Singer Adele Underscores No Such Thing as a Free Lunch
As the old adage goes, “There’s no such thing as a free lunch”, so it is with British singer Adele’s free concert tickets.
The 24 year old international singing star, who got her start from a singing demo of hers posted on Myspace.com back in 2006, requires if not demands that any fan receiving a free ticket to any of her concerts make at least a $20 donation to the Sands charity, a source told the Smoking Gun.
“There will be no exception to this rule,” the rider notes.
The charity itself is quite honorable providing support to anyone losing a baby especially those who’ve given birth to a stillborn.
Indeed, couples who have suffered that kind of loss often find friends and family indifferent because the child never breathed life.
To that extent, Sands fills a much needed niche. If the ends justify the means then it certainly does in this case. Thus far, Adele’s demands have led to $13,000 in donations to the charity.
@OfficialAdele told her Twitter followers last year, that she’ll start dropping tweets on one philanthropic condition:
“Right! Its me! I will start tweeting if 10k of u start following @drop4drop & their trip to India this wk. Its a wonderful charity. Go! A ***”
