The SCI-FI classic starring Arnold Schwarzenegger is being rebooted this time starring Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, and Jessica Biel.
The poster was revealed yesterday but thus far has failed to generate the buzz ahead of the film’s release.
Instead, critics are saying the poster featuring the three stars has created a disinterest in the film. Ultimately, the real test will be how well the film fares at the box office.
Forbes does a fine job of discribing the poster:
The poster is an incoherent mish-mash of badly scaled ideas. Kate Beckinsale brushes past Westminster Clock Tower like a gun-toting Godzilla. Jessica Biel’s proportions look…off somehow, as if her head were bigger than the rest of her body.
Worst of all, Colin Farrell stares dumbly at the audience. His expression is one of bafflement. Farrell is more than competent (I really enjoyed him as the recovering alcoholic in the chickalicious Ondine), but it’s hard to tell that he’s qualified for a lead role based on this picture.
Not one single image in this poster has the same lighting as any other image. Shall I continue? Just how low is that orbiting space station, cuz it looks like it’s grazing London? I can do this all night. Why is the eye-line different for every character? Really, I can keep going. Why is Biel shrouded in ethereal light?
It should be noted that SCI-FI flicks such as Resident Evil have drawn near universal disdain from movie critics while being crowd pleasing box office cash-cows. The fans will ultimately decide if the film is a winner.
