Warner Bros. Planning Hugh Hefner Biopic
Screenwriter Peter Morgan is currently negotiating terms with Warner Bros. Studios to write the screenplay for a film focusing on the amazing life of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner.
Morgan’s previous movie writing credits include Frost/Nixon and The Queen.
Hefner, now 85, acknowledged in a recent tweet that he had met with the screenwriter to discuss doing a movie about Hefner’s life.
Hefner tweeted: “I had a good meeting today with screenwriter Peter Morgan discussing a film about my life.”
Jerry Weintraub is heavily favored to direct the effort, with several of Hollywood’s outstanding leading men, including Robert Downey, Jr.,
The Daily Telegraph reports, Tom Cruise and Hugh Jackman, being considered to portray the magazine editor and philanthropist who brought the 20th century into the sexual revolution.
Hefner’s life story has been told several times before. Ken Burns took the help in the A&E special Hugh Hefner: American Playboy, Brigitte Berman examined his life in the 2010 documentary Hugh Hefner: Playboy, Activist and Rebel.
