First Look: Daniel Day-Lewis As Abraham Lincoln

Movie stills show Day-Lewis with uncanny resemblance to Lincoln

The first photos from legendary director Steven Spielberg’s new film on Abraham Lincoln have emerged, and they are being called astounding.

The image released by the studio shows Oscar-winning actor Daniel Day-Lewis as Lincoln, and the resemblance is being called nothing short of extraordinary.

Spielberg says the film will be based on the final four years of Lincoln’s life, and specifically on the actions taken at the end of the Civil War that finalized the total end of slavery.

“Our movie is really about a working leader who must make tough decisions and get things done in the face of overwhelming opposition,” director Spielberg told Entertainment Weekly.

This historically accurate film will be a far cry from the other film centered on the former president, who was assassinated, that will be released in coming weeks, a science fiction take on the life of the 16th president titled “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.”

Other stars in Spielberg’s film include Tommy Lee Jones as one of Lincoln’s opponents, Sally Field as Lincoln’s wife and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as one of Lincoln’s sons.
