Munsters Reboot Adds O’Connell
NBC is planning a reboot of the popular 1960’s television comedy “The Munsters.” The network has recently finished casting for the show, which had been delayed over various casting issues. “Mockingbird Lane” will feature Jerry O’Connell as the patriarch of the Munster family, Herman Munster.
The new series will be produced by “Dead Like Me” creator Bryan Fuller and “X-men” director Bryan Singer. Fuller will serve as writer and Singer as director. This is the second attempt to reboot the series which NBC declined last year.
Whereas the original was a half hour comedy, NBC is advertising the remake as an hour long drama that will explore the past of Herman and his wife Lily and how they came stay at 1313 Mockingbird Lane.
In addition to O’Connell, the series will feature Eddie Izzard as vampire Grandpa Munster and Mason Cook as Eddie, the werewolf son of Herman and Lily.
