Price as right denies barker invite to 40th anniversary special

Apparently nobody wants Bob Barker To “come on down” to the price is right set.

Bob Barker, as many people already know, was the host of The Price is Right for 35 years, so why is he being banned from appearing at the show’s 40th anniversary?

While the show wouldn’t openly admit any reasons for banning Barker, in a released statement Barker said he believes it is because of his animal rights advocacy.

Bob was not pleased with one of the show’s recent prizes, which was a trip to the Canada’s Calgary Stampede chuckwagon races that resulted in the death of three horses.

Barker told TV Guide:

“I don’t know why I wasn’t asked to take part in some way… But I do know I am ashamed of the show and surprised at their complete disregard for the welfare of animals. Were I still there, a prize to attend the Calgary Stampede would never have been considered. We never did anything that condoned animal cruelty. Apparently, things have changed.”

Barker added:

“They previously gave away tickets to SeaWorld in Florida where the mistreatment of dolphins and whales is just unacceptable… When that happened, I phoned various producers and [personnel] at the show and left messages but nobody would return my calls. So when the Calgary Stampede prize came up I didn’t bother calling anyone there. I just went to the press and lashed out at the show every chance I could. And I let everyone in Canada know how I felt.”

While Bob didn’t appear in person at the anniversary, he was seen in several vintge clips of the show.

Since retiring from the show in 2007, Barker has fiercely campaigned to establish animal law programs and courses at top U.S and in Canada.
