Sanra Bullock Buys Mansion in Garden District
Actress Sandra Bullock has purchased a 6,000+ square foot mansion in the Garden District of New Orleans. The home was purchased for a mere $2,250,000, less than a tenth of what she paid not long ago for a mansion in Los Angeles.
The home has plenty of space but only has five bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms.
The mansion, known as the Koch-Mays house, was built in the 1860s. It boasts 6,615 square feet, five bedrooms, four and a half baths, ornate chandeliers, and a lagoon-like pool in the backyard. Bullock bought the house for $2.25 million last June with her now-estranged husband, Jesse James. (She filed for divorce from James in April.)
The Academy Award winning actress has established roots to the community ever since Hurricane Katrina ravaged the city. She herself has donated hundreds of thousands to the city’s first high school, Warren Easton High.
The school has taken ten feet of flooding during the hurricane. However, it’s her newly adopted child that is her main concern. Given his New Orleans roots, she decided to have a home in the city where he could always stay close to his heritage.
