Hobbit Flight Safety Video Is An Improvement Over Other Safety Videos
Generally, flight safety videos are boring and don’t hold our attention well, let alone the attention of our children. We find it very difficult to give the video the time and attention we should even though we know that the information is important to us and our children.
Air New Zealand is helping make it easier for us to pay attention.
According to the video discription:
Air New Zealand partnered with WETA Workshop on a brand new Hobbit inspired Safety Video. It features cameo appearances including Sir Peter Jackson. According to FOX News, the video isn’t overly long which may be part of why we like it.
The airline’s four-minute safety video featuring the character Gollum got more than 2 million hits on YouTube within a day of being posted Thursday.
“To have Gollum step off the movie screen for the first time and into an Air New Zealand aircraft is incredibly special,” said Mike Tod, Air New Zealand General Manager Marketing and Communications, in a statement about the video, which has received 2.4 million hits in the day since going up.
The video even includes a quick appearance by the films’ director, Peter Jackson. Two of the author’s great-grandsons even make cameos. Royd Tolkien appears wearing prosthetic feet.
