Chris Christie And Twinkies Bankruptsy: Gov Has No Comment Larry D. Moore

Governor Chris Christie Refuses Comment on Twinkies

When a reporter recently asked New Jersey governor Chris Christie to comment on the pending bankruptcy and closure of Hostess, makers of the popular Twinkies cupcakes, the rotund politician refusedto make any comment.

Christie, who acknowledges that he is overweight and whose girth has been the subject of both jokes and criticism, chuckled and said that he thought it was in his best self-interest not to many any comment about Twinkies or the situation faced by bakery company Hostess.

“I’m on ‘Saturday Night Live’ enough,” he said. “You think you’re getting me behind this microphone having me talk about Twinkies?”

He added, “No, no, no, no, no. It’s bad that I even said the word ‘Twinkie’ from behind this microphone.”

He also admitted that he was even sorry he mentioned the word Twinkies, giving his history regarding his weight.

Christie has long battled weight problems, although it is not known whether a fondness for Twinkies has contributed to his condition.

The Governor, however, along with countless fans of the cream-filled cupcakes, won’t be tempted by the snacks anymore. Hostess has shut down its operation and filed for bankruptcy, leaving store shelves empty of Twinkies packages.
