The Florida man convicted of stealing nude pictures of Scarlett Johansson will spend the next 10 years in prison.
According to CNN, Christopher Chaney admits that he stole private information from 50 celebrities. These items included nude pictures, film scripts, and other personal information. Chaney said he started hacking into celebrities’ e-mail accounts out of curiosity but it soon became an obsession.
A US District Court Judge in Los Angeles sentenced Chaney to 120 months in prison and fined him just over $66,000 dollars. The sentence could have been as long as 121 years but Chaney reached a plea agreement earlier this year.
In addition to Johansson, prosecutors say Chaney also hacked into the e-mail accounts of Mila Kunis and Christina Aguilera. Chaney is said to have offered the stolen pictures to various celebrity gossip sites.
Chaney was arrested by the FBI in October 2011 in a sting named “Operation Hackerazzi.”
