Wedding bells will soon be ringing for one newscaster in Huntsville, Alabana. Last week, As FOX news affilliate, Jillian Pavlica, began to report “breaking news,” she soon found herself reading from the teleprompter that a “Huntsville area news anchor is about to be proposed to.”
As her co-anchors slowly exited the screen, her fiance appeared, got down on one knee and proceeded to propose to Pavlica. “You said our time would come. Now all of the pieces are coming together… Jillian Pavlica, will you marry me?”. Pavlica freely cried tears of joy, as she listened to the proposal and eagerly replied with “Yes, just because you don’t want me to say ‘okay’.”
As applause rang through the newsroom of Fox 54, Pavlica began to laugh. “You guys knew this all along!” she exclaimed to the crew. “A hundred precent chance of tears of joy,” reported the weatherman, as the segment came to a close.
One of the show’s co-presenters was left to finish the 9pm broadcast on Saturday evening, reading the weather forecast.
He said: ‘Here in the FOX54, 100 percent chance of a few tears of joy tonight.’
Given their unique job, it’s not suprising that many TV anchors have been proposed to on live TV.
According to the Huffington Post, an anchor invited his girlfriend on air to interview her and then proposed in December 2012, and another anchor got engaged during her broadcast when her boyfriend disguised his proposal as a news story.
