Kate Upton is reportedly “Furious” about appearing in the most recent Victoria’s Secret catalog.
Sources say Upton, who is seen wearing a black Body by Victoria bra in the catalog, did not provide permission for these photos to be used and is not currently contracted to work with Victoria’s Secret.
The 20-year-old model was not made aware by the company that these photos, which were taken in 2011, would be used in the current catalog.
“Kate’s not currently contracted to work with Victoria’s Secret, and they didn’t contact her before they used these images,” an insider tells The New York Post.
The photos surfaced online yesterday, sparking rumors that Upton could be the lingerie brand’s next Angel.
The photos came as a surprise to Upton, particularly after Sophia Neophitou, a booker from Victoria’s Secret, was quoted in 2012 as describing Upton’s look as “too obvious” and telling the New York Times that Victoria’s Secret would never use Upton as a model in their fashion shows.
Neophitou said, “She’s like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy.”
In the past, the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model has been vocal about dealing with body bashers — ranging from booking agents to nasty online commentators.
“It was hard at first. You sit there and you’re like ‘Is something wrong with me?'” Upton told Vogue about the criticism she’s faced. “The things that they’re rejecting are things that I can’t change. I can’t change my bra size. They’re natural! I can work out and I can stay healthy and motivated, but I can’t change some things.”
Upton has been featured multiple times on the covers of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and Vogue. She ranked number 8 in FHM’s Sexiest Women in the World 2013 list.
