Sophia Grace, Not immune to the Media’s backlash

When people first get a glimpse of Sophie Grace, they see this beautiful, vibrant 10 year old girl. Her pint size talent has went viral on youtube causing quite the stir of positive and negative responses.

Some critics are raging that the young child’s rapping lyrics are a little disturbing. Her first youtube appearance was in 2011, singing the song “Super Bass” by Nick Minja. This video as well as the “Girls just want to have fun” instantly went viral. In her latest video, “Girls just gotta have fun”, features Sophia driving around in a mini pink SUV, hanging with her friends and dancing about. It even shows her flirting with a boy. This is stirring the public’s opinions fast. Within 2 days, it received 1.3 million views.

Nick Minaj launched Sophie’s career with “Super Bass”. This wasn’t a video shot by her parents. Matt Alonzo directed the video, and they both exploded across youtube in less than 24 hours. Matt Alonzo is famous for videos he directed for Soulja Boy, Pitbull, and various other artist.

Both Sophia and her younger cousin Rosie made guest appearances on Ellen. It was Sophia who took the stage. While Sophia is only a young child, this isn’t stopping the critics from unleashing there opinions of this child’s recent video.

Firstly, it’s clear this chick is better off singing covers of more popular songs. All the autotuning going on in “Girls Just Gotta Have Fun” reminds me of one of those news stories that have been autotuned into something resembling music rather than a nice little pop diddy. Additionally, I don’t get the weird vibe Sophia Grace is portraying, between The youth has done well putting together cover songs about adult topics, but the dichotomy of singing about shopping
