Karl Lagerfeld, creator director of the esteemed Parisian fashion house of Chanel, loves his Siamese cat so much that he has declared his wish to marry the feline.
Despite being a multi-millionaire from his successful career in fashion, Lagerfeld admits that it is his one year old white cat, Choupette, who is the most prized possession of his life.
He laments that there is no marriage ceremony yet to join man and feline and expresses surprise that he could feel so much love for just one exquisite animal.
“There is no marriage, yet, for human beings and animals… I never thought that I would fall in love like this with a cat,” Lagerfeld told CNN’s Fashion Week: Backstage Pass.
Lagerfeld lives with Choupette at his home in Paris and has even hired a trio of maids to attend to her every whim in addition to keeping a diary of her activities while he is away on business. Choupette lounges on a specially designed pillow, and Lagerfeld and Choupette dine at the same table twice a day with a special menu offered to his Siamese companion.
When the designing genius is able to take Choupette with him on his travels, he allows her to fly with him aboard a private jet. Choupette already has her own fan club since signing up with social media website Twitter and counts over 25,000 fans among her most loyal followers.
Choupette’s biography on the Twitter account @choupettesdiary reads: “I am a famous beauty who refuses to eat on the floor & my maids pamper my every need. I am Choupette Largerfeld and I am a spoiled *****.”
