Hold on to your wallets folks, actress Scarlett Johansson has been offered a record-setting $20 million to do the Black Widow gig again on the sequel to “The Avengers.” The Huff Post reported the news this week.
That beats the previous record-setting actress salary of $19 million paid to Angelina Jolie for the 2010 release “The Tourist.” Of course, “The Tourist” was a poorly reviewed film by critics that nonetheless managed to gather in $278 million in worldwide sales.
By pay per film contrast, Kristen Stewart was the highest paid actress last year, according to Forbes, raking in $34.5 million for three films. Second place prize went to Cameron Diaz who made $34 million for three films, Forbes said.
“The Avengers” starring Johansson as Black Widow was a mega-hit, making Hollywood money history as the third highest grossing film of all-time, bringing in more than $1.35 million in worldwide sales. Co-stars in the film, Robert Downey Jr. Chris Hemsworth and Jeremy Renner, also were reported to have been offered large pay rises to reprise their roles. Sources told publications they were confident Johansson would accept the record salary to do it up again as Black Widow.
