Months before actress Jessica Simpson’s second child arrived in the spring of 2012, she was negotiating with officials from the popular Weight Watch weight loss company to receive $4 million in compensation for participating in their program in order to lose her baby weight gain.
By the end of November, 2011, Simpson had locked in the details of her lucrative spokesperson contract and she alerted her loyal fans on Twitter that she had become the newest member of the Weight Watchers family.
Simpson also revealed that she had enlisted the aid of several friends to join her in participating in the Weight Watchers program, which she praised for focusing on long-term healthy eating habits rather than being just another quick fix diet.
Although the $4 million paycheck was incentive enough to become a Weight Watchers spokesperson, Simpson also had another motive for agreeing to participate in the slow and healthy regimen for losing excess weight. She confided to friends that she wanted to look really stunning in her wedding dress for her marriage to fiancé Eric Johnson, with whom she already has a son. As part of her Weight Watchers contract, Simpson also got the benefit of working out daily with a professional trainer.
Despite the fact she is already expecting again, Simpson will remain the face of the diet company.
“There have been no changes to our business agreement with Jessica,” a rep for Weight Watchers told ABC News. “Jessica’s successful weight loss prior to becoming pregnant will be featured in Weight Watchers’ new ‘Expect Amazing’ advertising campaign, including a spot with her sharing the happy news.”
They tweeted: “Congrats to @JessicaSimpson, Eric and big-sister-to-be Maxwell! Your WW family is so thrilled for you. What an amazing year you’ve had!”
