Dermot Mulroney Reveals Truth About Lip Scar

Actor Dermot Mulroney considers his noticeable lip scar one of his most distinguishing features. He has never made an effort to hide it or to get it removed surgically. Now he has revealed in a recent magazine interview the real source of his infamous scar, which he admits has been a part of his life since childhood.

Mulroney recounts that he was only three and a half years old when an accident caused him to receive the scar. Although he was carefully carrying a dish of food to feed the family’s pet rabbits, he stumbled, causing the dish to break and cut his face around the upper lip. Mulroney admits that the day he got his lip scar ranks among one of the most memorable in his life. But most of the time, the busy actor contends he doesn’t even notice the scar when he looks in the mirror or give it much thought when he’s acting on a movie set. He feels like it’s been there on his face forever, and says he feels very comfortable with it being there, right under his right nostril.

Many fans remember Mulroney for his break-out role in “My Best Friend’s Wedding”, although he has done numerous film roles since. His most recent screen appearance was opposite Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep in “August: Osage County.” He is currently on location in Chicago, doing filming for a new dramatic series called “Crisis.” He says that returning to the Windy City, the location for “My Best Friend’s Wedding”, brings back many pleasant memories, including being on a tour boat with Julia Roberts on the Chicago River that passed under several of the city’s famous bridges. He’s not surprised that when people stop him on the street, they mention that movie is their favorite.
