Nigella offered drug test to enter US

London, England – Apparently money and fame may not be able to buy love as the Beatles sang in their 1964 classic fifty years ago, but British TV personality Nigella Lawson can add a US work visa to that short list as well. The 54-year-old star of the ABC Network reality TV cooking competition called “The Taste” is worth an estimated £15 million, but what has gotten her in trouble with US Customs officials is her admission to taking drugs in her past, specifically cocaine.

This past Sunday, Mrs. Lawson was attempting to visit the United States, but was denied the ability to board the flight. Sadly, knowledge of her past drug use became public knowledge during the trial of two of her former employees who defrauded her and her partner of £1 million. Under oath, she was asked about any prior drug use. Following her testimony, Scotland Yard initiated an investigation, but thankfully let the matter go. The famous criminal investigative division realized that the investigation would set an ugly precedent against people bearing honest testimony in court. As for US Customs, they will require the popular celebrity submit to a formal drug test as a prerequisite to entering the country.
