The news has hit the internet with Linda Perry (songwriter) speaking her mind on how Beyonce has gained songwriting credit for songs that she shouldn’t have received credit on. The comments started when Linda Perry was asked a question by a fan (on Reddit Ask Me anything) about if it bother Perry how artists have muscled their way into songwriting credits after only making minor changes to a song. Perry was not hesitant at all to give her input or two cents back to the fan about how she felt about the situation.
Linda Perry has written songs for Christina Aguilera on “Beautiful”, Alicia Keys “Superwoman” and many more which gives her the right to speak on this particular subject. Perry responded saying “Well um that’s not songwriting but some of these artists believe that if it wasn’t for them your song would never get out there so they just take a cut just because they are who they are, but everyone know the real truth even Beyonce. She is talented but in a completely different way.”
These words alone will be taken seriously from Linda Perry to Beyonce and other artists who are out there taking these types of songwriting credits. Linda Perry is a very famous and successful songwriting causing other to not take her words lightly which may cause some turmoil online or through social media. As of right now there has not been an official response from Beyonce which is what everyone is waiting for and might actually never see. Perry did not make the statement to clearly offend Beyonce as she gave her credit towards the end of her comment stating that “she is talented just in a completely different way” which is a nice gesture in the midst of her comment
