Kid Rock Surprises a Fan on his 30th Birthday
Detroit, Michigan – Dan McGurk suffers from Down syndrome. As such, he enjoys a simple life and is quite fond of singer Kid Rock. In fact, he is probably one of the singer’s biggest fans. McGurk wanted the singer to make an appearance at this 30th birthday party. He sent Rock numerous letters and video clips inviting him. Well, as the adage goes, “Success comes not to the best nor the brightest, but the one who perseveres.” Such was the case for McGurk whose persistence wore down the busy entertainer.
A video shows McGurk enjoying his birthday celebration at a local restaurant in Clarkston Union in the act of expressing how much he wanted Kid Rock to be there to share the moment with him. He is even seen singing one of Rock’s biggest hits “Bawitdaba” before his family and friends. The birthday cake is brought out and then the unexpected occurs: Kid Rock enters the restaurant singing “Happy Birthday”. The look on McGurk’s face is priceless. Rock then approaches his adoring fan and gives him a big hug. It is at that moment that a jubilant McGurk exclaims that his wish was to have “American Bada” present, and it was now fulfilled.
After the surprise visit, Rock takes a seat next to the birthday boy, and the two chat up. Rock presents him with the following birthday gifts: a hat, a guitar, and a limited edition photograph. As the two are seated, Rock signs the mementos in front of his fan. He later asks McGurk if he was surprised by his appearance to which he responded emphatically, “Yeah, you did!” Rock is one classy guy. He may also have a soft spot for fellow Michiganders. Rock is from the small town of Romeo further south. He also went on the campaign trail with another Michigander by the name of Mitt Romney two years ago.
