Swift Closes Window on .Porn Website

Unfortunately, ‘taylorswift.porn” would attract the kind of attention that the mega-singer doesn’t want. So would “taylorswift.adult”. So of course Taylor Swift purchased those domain names before they came available to the general public. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers has recently expanded the options of top-level domains available AND opened an exclusive window of opportunity for public figures and companies to purchase them. The new domain names include .porn, .adult and .sucks, among others, and will be available to regular folks after June 1, 2015.

It is not the first time the uber-talented Business Wiz has taken pre-emptive steps to eliminate commercial exploitation of her name and image. When paparazzi-snapped photos of a bikini-clad Swift were put up for sale, and attracting big bucks for purchase and publishing, she posted her own swim suit pin-ups on Instagram. That action totally gutted the value of the paparazzi photos and put Swift back in control of her own public face.

Her purchase of these domain names is another example of her careful protection of her public persona. She has commented that she would prefer to be thought of as nice, rather than sexy, and she is well known for overt acts of kindness on behalf of friends and fans. Preventing anyone else from tying her name to their adult-themed website is the best way for her to limit her exposure to that kind of ‘exposure’.
