I used to work in an office where the top four leadership positions were held by women. We were a small regional site for a national company that did consumer testing. The previous manager & assistant manager were fired amid an embezzlement scandal (f’real), so the four of us had been working our asses off for like six months to get our location back in the black. We were doing such a good job that when corporate nabbed a huge job and the client (a global soft drink giant) wanted to do some site visits, they chose our site. No pressure or anything. But of course, we rocked the visit. We rocked everything! After he left, we all felt really good about it.
When I came in the following morning & asked my boss if she’d heard any feedback from corporate, she told me that Mr. Schmoca-Schmola said the visit went “fine” and he didn’t have any concerns, but he thought it was odd and a bit unprofessional that only one of us was wearing make-up.
