Bristol, the daughter of former Vice Presidential hopeful Sarah Palin, and her fiancé, U.S. Marine and Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer, were set to tie the knot during a large ceremony over Memorial Day weekend.
According to Radar, a license showing that 26-year-old soldier Dakota wed a woman named Cassandra Wain back in 2008 when he was just 19. They are said to have divorced in 2010, though it remains unclear if they actually did.
Bristol, who is mom to son Tripp from her previous relationship with Levi Johnston, met Dakota last year.
Palin hinted at a different romantic future in her first words since she announced the wedding was not taking place, penning an emotional blog on religious website Patheos.
“I feel like I need to address the elephant-in-the-room on this blog, since you guys have been with me through thick and thin,” Bristol wrote on an entry titled “The Wedding That Didn’t Happen” on Tuesday. “When I first got engaged, you were the first ones I wanted to tell.”
“I guess you have seen by now that the wedding — that was supposed to happen last weekend — was called off,” continued the reality star, who announced her engagement to Meyer just two months ago. “I’m sure you’ve seen this has been all over the media, but this is a painful time for family and friends and I would just really appreciate your prayers.”
“I know God’s plan is greater than anything else, and Tripp and I are in Alaska beginning to rebuild our lives under much different circumstances than we anticipated,” she added, mentioning the 6-year-old son that she shares with ex Levi Johnston. “Thank you for all of your love and support.”
